8, 2008 -- Federal Trade Commission workshop on Carbon Offsets and
Renewable Energy Certificates, Washington DC
The Institute will be attending the workshop hosted by Federal
Trade Commission.
The workshop will address the marketing of carbon offsets and renewable
energy certificates (RECs). The workshop will focus on consumer
protection issues in these markets, such as consumer perception
of carbon offset and REC advertising claims and substantiation for
such claims. The workshop will take place on January 8, 2008 at
the FTC’s Conference Center in Washington, DC. For more information

February 5 and 6 --- Voluntary Carbon Markets conference,
New York City
Tom Baumann and Michael Gillenwater will speak at the Voluntary
Carbon Market conference to be held in New York City on Feb 5-6,
2008. This is the only event to focus solely on the US voluntary
carbon market. This event will provide delegates an opportunity
to learn about the size of the voluntary market, the range of voluntary
standards created and the key to sustainable future growth of the

February 26 and 27, 2008 ---Carbon Forum America event,
San Francisco, California
The Institute will be participating as an exhibitor in the Carbon
